Again, I conquer Quezon City! I don’t know why it’s such a big deal for me, but as I mentioned in a post before, QC scares me, but I am slowly discovering the nooks that this part of Manila has to offer. So far, it’s all quirky, thoughtful restaurants that make me smile. Nomnomnom is one of them. But not a ecstatic Cheshire cat smile, more of a content, eyes-closed one.
It was one of those lonely nights that I wanted to go somewhere inviting & cozy because I missed home, my family & friends. It was a rough week as well. Sweater on, I brave the cold air & locate Nom (let’s shorten it, shall we) in the South Traingle area. I had a little difficulty finding it, but I am grateful for online directions, Waze & kind cab drivers. Across Il Terrazo is Pos Building — brimming with a crowd of people enjoying their weekend — I find Nom on the 3rd floor & am surprised at how small the place actually is. But inside, it is cozy & well-decorated.
I was alone & wasn’t hungry that day so even if all the tempting dishes with names so funny were jumping out at me at the menu, I decided to get basic rice & viand dinner. Lime Chicken with Alfredo Sauce (Php160) and Raspberry Iced Tea (Php40) were my companions for the night.
What arrived on my table was chicken breast strips marinated in lime and rosemary, drizzled with alfredo sauce & served with buttered beans and spring onions. I was a little concerned with the serving size of the viand but I really didn’t feel like being more disappointed that night, so I gobbled it up. Flavorful, warm but pretty much basic — the criteria for comfort food. I got what I paid for.
Should I have felt more adventurous that night, I would have ordered their raved-about Fried Ravioli (Php90 for 6 pieces) or Pizza Logs (Php160-250). But there will be a next time since I was smitten by their surroundings & it’s quite near to my place. They even have dessert.
I have yet to try more of the happy food, but the surroundings made me smile despite feeling down. Check out the wall decorated with vintage book pages & painted with whimsical birds & flowers!
Nomnomnom Happy Food is located at 3/F Pos Building, Scout Madriñan cor. Tomas Morato, South Traingle, Quezon City. Open daily 12NN-12MN.
P.S. A lot of Kapamilya star sightings since it’s quite near ABS-CBN.
Cool Place. I bet it is perfect for people who wants to reflect, like me.Great Blog post! 😉
