Henry’s Wine & Liquor: My Latest After Meal Destination

Let’s admit that it’s always fun to incorporate any sort of beverage when hanging out involves friends & conversation.

One lunch date, my friends & I were discussing that we have graduated from coffee to mixed drinks & eventually, wine. Young (ehem) ladies as we like to call ourselves. But of course my friends & I can be the most immature & disgusting teenagers we used to be in high school but hey, we like to have nice dinners & the finer things in life more often than not. Henry’s caters to those once in a blue moon cravings we have for wine & conversation.

Henry’s Wine & Liquor was opened on May 2011 at Plazuela de Iloilo, but it was only until recently that we decided to skip the overrated bars & coffee shops & take our manic laughter into this lovely store. Henry’s offers a wide array of liquor to enjoy: sparkling wines, champagne, vodka, tequila, brandy, whisky, bourbon, cognac, rhum, gin and mixed drinks. The wine has a variety of French, Spanish, Italian, South African,  American, Chilean, Argentinian & American. What we all love about Henry’s is the very reasonable prices — cheap even, for a good glass of wine. They offer a bucket of three bottles of wine for Php888 & since beer is inevitable, a bucket can be served at your request if you wish. The cheapest wine at hand is around Php198 and Php250 so enjoying a glass need not be extravagant.

Since we were full & since Homa made chocolate truffles, we decided to grab some dessert wine. With the help of the knowledgeable & friendly staff, we got a bottle of something he highly recommended: Gossips Sweet Lips (Php500++) — a sweet wine (duh) which complemented our dessert quite well. A mellow berry Australian red wine with a light spritz. Sweet. Reminds me of summer. Definitely for the younger set. Aside from flowing drinks, laughter, millions of stories, peanuts & truffles, we even got a short wine lecture from our future pastry chef friend (hi Homie I love you). And because I got my first paycheck & I missed them all, it was on me.

The ambiance inside is very nice — well lit display & reasonably small for those intimate meetings. An area is available outside for big groups too. Wine can be bought from the store or you can have it chilled & enjoyed, just the way we like it. We plan on trying their wine tasting events that occur every two months! Whether you are with your lonesome self, on a date or with a group of friends, if you wish to have intimate scenery paired with something special, Henry’s is definitely your best bet. It’s our new favourite after meal destination.

Henry’s is located at Plazuela de Iloilo beside Coffee Break & is open 11 AM-12MN daily although some hours are extended on weekends.
